U.S Secretary of State Rex Tillerson discusses President Trump’s recent decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
During a press conference in Paris on Friday, Tillerson explained the process of moving the American embassy to Jerusalem will take some time to complete.
However, the administration will begin working decisively toward the move.
“This is not something that’s going to happen this year, probably not next year,” said Tillerson. “But the President does want us to move in a very concrete, steadfast way to ensure the embassy is located in Jerusalem when we are able to do so at the earliest possible time”
Tillerson went on to say the President’s decision is not meant to ‘indicate a final status for the holy city.’ He also said the parties involved will have to negotiate among themselves to make the decisions regarding disputed areas.
